What is Physiotherapy?
Physiotherapy is an independent primary care profession. Physiotherapists assess, plan and implement rehabilitative programs that improve or restore human motor functions, maximize movement ability, relieve pain syndromes, and treat or prevent physical challenges associated with injuries, diseases and other impairments (World Health Organisation).
One of the most frequent remedies in any medical prescription list is exercise. Physical activity is the closest thing we have to a wonder drug (Tom Frieden). Yet exercise is the most underutilised, often neglected pill by lot of patients. Theraputic exercises and mobilisation is one of the main cornerstones in Physiotherapy. In addition we use other physical modalities such as heat, cold, light, sound waves and electrical current to treat patients with variety of disorders.
